How to deregister and unlink your SIM card phone number from your iMessage account. iMessage is a messaging service from Apple that allows all iOS users to send text messages for free using WiFi, 2G or 3G connectivity.
Apple introduced iMessage a few years ago on iOS 6 and quickly, many users starting using it. It was a tool that made it possible for Apple users to quickly communicate between them without spending any money. The only requirement was active internet access.
You simply have to create your own iMessage account and you are ready to go. You can message your friends who also have an iMessage account without any extra charges.
However, there is a serious problem with Apple’s own messaging service. Apparently, when a user goes from an iOS device to another mobile platform, he will not receive any of the messages sent by its iMessage friends.
In order to prevent this, the user must turn off the iMessage feature on his phone, otherwise, he will always miss messages sent from other iOS users. If you have already sold or thrown your iPhone but haven’t deactivated the messaging service, then you can unlink your accounts using the newly released tool by Apple.
The new tool allows you to deregister your iMessage account from your phone number even if you don’t have your iPhone any more.
How to unlink your phone number from your iMessage account
- Go to Apple’s website.
- Enter your phone number at the part where it says “Enter the phone number you want to deregister from iMessage and we’ll send you a confirmation code”.
- At the box below, enter the confirmation code.
This will unlink your number from iMessage. That is it. Now you will never miss any messages from your iOS friends.
