Moto X (1st Gen.) Receives Official Android 5.1 Lollipop, How To OTA Update

Motorola has started seeding an official Android 5.1 Lollipop firmware build (222.21.15) for the old Moto X 1st Generation. It is the most important update that this phone has received to date with new options and improvements. The most important change is the new user interface called Material Design. Android 5.1 Lollipop update is already out and Moto X 1st Gen users can download and install it through OTA.

Back in 2013, the Moto X was Motorola’s best device. It was the flagship phone and was much better than the smaller Moto G in terms of specifications and design. The Moto X 1st Gen features a 4.7″ AMOLED screen, Snapdragon S4 Pro, Adreno 320 Graphics Unit, 2 GB RAM, 10 MP rear and 2 MP front camera, and a decently sized 2200 mAh battery.

Motorola has always supported the original Moto X. It has provided frequent software updates, from Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean to 4.4 KitKat and now Android 5.1 Lollipop. The new OTA update brings many new things to the table. There is Material Design UI, improved notifications menu, recent apps, Moto Display and Ambient Display, Moto Assist, flashlight toggle in the Quick Settings panel, improved performance, and enhanced battery.
