T-Mobile Galaxy S5 (SM-G900T) Receives Android 5.1.1 Lollipop G900TUVU1FOF6 Firmware

Looks like Samsung really likes T-Mobile because most of the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop updates the company released are designed for devices under this carrier. The T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S5 SM-G900T is the next device to be updated to official Android 5.1.1 Lollipop after the Galaxy S6 SM-G920T and Galaxy S6 edge SM-G925T.

The Android 5.1.1 firmware for the Galaxy S5 (SM-G900T) comes with build number G900TUVU1FOF6 and changelist 90673209. The build date of the firmware is 10 June, meaning that Samsung had the update ready for two weeks but it took a long time to release because of testing and bug fixes.

The SM-G900T is the only Samsung Galaxy S5 variant to receive the official Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update, even though other variants will receive it shortly. As with every other Samsung update, there are multiple ways of installing the latest firmware.

The first and best way is the OTA method. All you need to do is to go to Settings > About Phone > Software Updates and see if the new firmware is available. While this is the easiest method, it is also the slowest one. Samsung releases OTA updates gradually.

The second method is to flash the G900TUVU1FOF6 firmware using Odin. You need to have a little knowledge but the entire process is very easy. All you need to do is to follow the guide below.

Flash Android 5.1.1 G900TUVU1FOF6 on Galaxy S5 (SM-G900T)

As with every other process which involves flashing with Odin, the KNOX counter will get triggered, so this won’t be the ideal method if you want to save warranty.

Getting Prepared

  • Charge your phone to at least 50%. You don’t want your phone to turn off during the process.
  • Wipe data and factory reset.
  • Install the proper Galaxy USB drivers (link)
  • Odin flashing tool: Odin3_v3.09.zip

Download firmware: G900TUVU1FOF6_G900TTMB1FOF6_TMB.zip

  1. Download the Odin and firmware zip files. Extract them both.
  2. Launch Odin flashing tool and click on AP.
  3. Select the extracted firmware which has the tar.md5 extension.
  4. Turn the phone off and boot into download mode by pressing the home, power and volume down buttons simultaneously.
  5. If USB drivers are correctly installed, one of the boxes below ID:COM will change color to blue or yellow.
  6. Click on start.

Now all you have to do is to wait. The phone will auto reboot and you will enjoy Android 5.1.1 on your T-Mobile Galaxy S5.
