Of course, the problem shows up while a user is installing a zip file in recovery mode. The user turns off the phone, uses the traditional button combinations to go to recovery, select install zip file, select the file he wants to install and presses the install button. The recovery says installing file, verifying update package and after a few seconds a message appears in red text “Installation aborted. Signature verification failed”.

There are many things that can cause this problem, but we have narrowed them down to three reasons. So if you are experiencing and seeing this issue while trying to install a file in recovery, the solutions below might help you. They have worked for us and they should work for you.

Solutions To Fix Recovery Signature Verification Failed Issue

Update your recovery to the latest version

This is the most common reason why the problem occurs. Most of the times, the user installs a custom recovery and then simply forgets about it. The recovery, as every other software, gets updated frequently to fix bugs and introduce new features. Still, users never update the recovery installed on their phones. If you have been running on the same version for a long time, it is recommended to update to support new files and mods.

Download the zip file again

Files, especially when in zip format can easily get corrupted. When a file is corrupted, the recovery cannot pull any of the contents of the archive to prevent any possible damages that can be caused. Files can get corrupted if the download process stops or if the internet connection is slow.

Make sure the file is designed for your phone

Samsung releases a large number of variants of the same phone. For example, the Samsung Galaxy S5 comes in many variants with different specifications and chipsets. Sometimes, users get confused and download the wrong file for their devices. So always make sure that the download file is designed for your phone model.
