There has been a huge debate regarding two of the most popular devices at the moment, the Samsung Galaxy S6/S6 Edge and iPhone 6/6 Plus. Reviewers have criticized Samsung for copying the iPhone 6 design on the Galaxy S6. Samsung’s flagship device features the same aluminum frame, antenna lines and a Gorilla Glass 4 back which is a true fingerprint magnet.

Lets leave the “Samsung has copied Apple” argument for the moment and lets focus on more important things like a drop test. If you are a person who hates cases and uses the phone as is without any protection, you should be interested in these drop tests. They show how durable a phone is and if it breaks easily without a case or not.

This time, two smartphone giants have been put to the test, the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge and the Apple iPhone 6. The test consists of the usual drop tests, including dropping the phones from waist and head height on the back, side and the front.

As expected, both of the devices survive the back and side drop test. However, the Apple iPhone 6 wasn’t so lucky on the front-facing drop test. The display of the phone got totally shattered while the one on the Galaxy S6 Edge suffered from a small scratch.

The final test consisted of dropping both devices from 10 feet (3 meters). The front glass of the iPhone 6 shattered even more and the aluminum part on the back had scuffs everywhere. On top of that, the Sapphire glass covering the camera lens shattered too.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge gave out on the 3 meter drop test. The back glass shattered creating two hairline cracks and the front glass cracked at the top right corner, even though not nearly as badly as the iPhone 6. At the end of the test, the Galaxy S6 Edge continued working whereas the iPhone 6 was completely dead.
