OxygenOS 2.2.0 OTA update rolling out for OnePlus X today

The cheapest smartphone of OnePlus’ portfolio, the OnePlus X has started receiving the OxygenOS 2.2.0 update today. The news comes from Helen, an administrator over at OnePlus forum website. OxygenOS 2.2.0 update brings a few minor changes and optimizations since it is an incremental update rather than a major update.

The update comes in the form of OTA and should be hitting your OnePlus X today. To check if the update is available, go to Settings > About Phone and check for software updates. There should be a new notification that OnePlus has released the update for your phone.

OxygenOS 2.2.0 brings some noticeable and useful changes even though it is only an incremental update. For starters, the update brings the usual security patches, general bug fixes and optimizations. Additionally, the camera app now has manual mode for advanced users and an option to save to SD card.

The update includes USSD bug fix for India, OTA app upgrade and added dual SIM preferences back in system settings. Again, this is an incremental update and you can install it via OTA.

The OnePlus X is the latest smartphone by OnePlus. It is the company’s next attempt at creating a powerful smartphone with a catchy design for unrivalled price and looks like it has managed to do so. After all, it runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, receives frequent updates and soon will be receiving the Marshmallow update.
