Install Official KitKat Update on Sprint Galaxy S3

Install now the official Android 4.4.2 KitKat update on the Sprint version of Samsung Galaxy S3. Yes, Samsung has just rolled out the latest version of Android for one of the biggest American carriers, Sprint. It has yet to become available for all sprint devices but nonetheless, if you have one, check out for the update.

Soon, Samsung will make the update available for all devices, not only for a few handsets. Currently, the update can be received only through OTA (Over The Air). Kies has yet to receive it. If you already have a Sprint Galaxy S3 but haven’t received the update notification, you can manually download and install it.

A recognized contributor fro XDA called CNexus, has managed to successfully download the update and put it inside a zip file. You can take this zip file and flash it. Follow the guide below.

Warnings

a. It isn’t 100% granted that the update will be successfully installed through custom recoveries.

b. You might not be able to go back on earlier Android versions.

c. You might get the new KNOX bootloader.

If you accept the mentioned warnings follow the guide below:

Step 1. Download Android 4.4.2 KitKat update here.

Step 2. Put the zp file in your phone’s internal memory and boot into Recovery Mode. Stock recovery is preferred.

Step 3. Inside Recovery, go to Install zip file, select the downloaded update and install it.

Step 4. Wait a few minutes until the update has been successfully installed.
