The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 is a bigger variant of the Samsung Galaxy S6. It follows Galaxy S6’s design guidelines with full glass and aluminum body. It comes with a 5.7-inch QHD screen and the famous S-Pen. There is little difference when you compare the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 to the Galaxy S6. Both are running on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop with TouchWiz skin on top. Besides a different icon pack on the Note 5, both firmwares are the same.
Developers over at XDA have managed to create a fully working Samsung Galaxy Note 5 launcher for the Galaxy S6. However, if you are running on a Galaxy S6 based or ported ROM on your Galaxy S5, Note 4, Note 3 or S4, you can install the Note 5 launcher as well. The Note 5 introduces a brand new icon pack. Everything looks smaller so more icons can fit inside a single home screen page.
There are a few custom modifications made by the developer. You can select transition effect and more. If you haven’t had the chance to buy the Samsung Galaxy Note 5, take a look on how to install the launcher on your older Samsung phone.
How To Install Note 5 Launcher on S6, S5, Note 4
If you don’t have a Galaxy S6 but a Galaxy S5, S4 or Note 4, you need to flash a custom ROM based on S6’s ROM, otherwise the launcher might not work correctly.
Note: Make a backup of your current launcher. If the new launcher does not work or it force closes, you can restore the original S6 launcher.
- Download Samsung Galaxy Note 5 TouchWiz launcher (download).
- Extract the zip file. You will get an APK file and a libs folder.
- If you are on a Galaxy S6, go to System > Priv-app > TouchwizHome_MR1 and move the extracted APK file. Select correct permissions (rw-r-r).
