Increase Speaker & Headphones Volume on Galaxy S6 and S6 edge

If you aren’t happy with the speaker volume of your Samsung Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 edge, we have a mod for you which can boost the volume to a much more decent level. Samsung took a different approach with the speaker on the Galaxy S6. It is now placed at the bottom of the device instead being on the back, similar to the iPhone 6 speaker.

The speaker volume of the Galaxy S6 is much better than the one on the Galaxy S5. The speaker is more powerful and the audio is not as thin as on the Galaxy S5. A normal user would be more than happy with the stock Galaxy S6 speaker but power users always search for ways to improve their devices.

Senior member “raw2000j” has created a mod which boosts Samsung Galaxy S6’s speaker, headphones volume and Bluetooth connected devices. The mod has to do with the “mixer_paths.xml” file, where certain values have been increased to offer louder audio quality.

How to boost Galaxy S6 and S6 edge speaker & headphones volume

For this mod to work on your device, you need root access and a custom recovery if you prefer installing the flashable zip file.

  1. If your phone is not rooted, read this guide to root it and then install TWRP custom recovery.
  2. Download modified flashable file: TmoEdgeV3Sound.zip.
  3. Turn the phone off.
  4. Press the volume up, home and power buttons at the same time to boot into recovery mode.
  5. Wipe cache and flash the zip file.
  6. Reboot your phone.

The speaker volume on your Galaxy S6 and S6 edge will now be louder and stronger. If you don’t like the louder speaker, replace the new file with the old “mixer_paths.xml” file.
