Improve OnePlus 6 & 6T Performance and Battery Life With Arter97 Kernel

If you are happy with your OnePlus 6 or 6T’s performance but you want to take things further and make the phone even faster, then find out how to do so below. The OnePlus 6 and 6T are two of the company’s latest devices. OnePlus released them six months apart, and are very similar in many ways. Both devices come with Android 9.0 Pie with OxygenOS ROM, Snapdragon 845 chipset with Adreno 630 GPU, 6GB or 8GB of RAM, 64/128/256GB storage configurations, dual rear camera setup (16MP and 20MP) and a single 16MP front-facing camera.

The OnePlus 6 has a 6.28″ AMOLED display and a 3300 mAh battery, while the 6T has a bigger 6.41″ display and a beefier 3700 mAh battery. No matter which phone you have, you are guaranteed to have an excellent experience. Both phones are extremely fast thanks to the 8GB of RAM on board and OxygenOS, which is very similar to a stock Android.

However, if you think that your OnePlus 6 or 6T is fast, think again. You can make your phone even faster by installing a custom kernel, such as Arter97. Arter97 is a very popular custom kernel that has been around for many years for a number of Android phones. A custom kernel is a must if you want to take full advantage of your device.

Some important features of Arter97 include improved memory management, power savings applied to the display, optimizations taken from Paranoid, SafetyCheck passer, Pixel’s memory-killer feature, UFS optimization, disabled DM-Verity, and systemless installation. Systemless installation means that the kernel does not modify any system files.

How To Install Arter97 Kernel on OnePlus 6 & 6T

Note: This is a custom kernel designed to work with OxygenOS ROM, even though the developer states that the kernel will work on other ROMs as well. As with every custom file, there is a risk involved when installing Arter97, especially when the tutorial is not followed properly. Please proceed at your own risk.

Download Panel

Since the chipset on both the OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T is the same, you can use the same kernel file on both devices.

Installation Process

  1. Make sure you have the latest version of TWRP installed on your phone.
  2. Download the kernel file from the download link above.
  3. Press and hold the power button to turn off the phone.
  4. While the phone is off, press and hold the volume down and power keys at the same time. This will boot the phone into recovery mode.
  5. Go to Install and find the kernel file.
  6. Tap on it and swipe to flash the file.

This will flash the new kernel, as well as a custom modified TWRP that is integrated with f2fs support. To check if you have the new recovery after the installation process, boot into recovery once again and check the TWRP’s version name. The name displayed should be “arter97-f2fs”.
