Google has updated another system application to Material Design and this time it is the Gmail app. Gmail is one of the most popular Android apps not only because many people use it in a daily basis but also because it comes as a pre-installed app on many phones.
With the announcement of Android 5.0 Lollipop this year, Google has started to update all its apps to Material to suit the new design.
Previously, other Google apps have received the update including Google Keyboard v4.0 which has the full theme of Lollipop.
Not only Google apps, but also other applications have been updated to fit Lollipop thanks to Developer Preview images. The images have made it possible for developers to implement the new design to their apps.
The biggest change of Gmail is of course the user interface. It is simpler, flatter, easier to use and more intuitive. Everything is smooth and everything looks better because of new animations that Google has created.
Another big change is support for other email accounts than Gmail. Along your Gmail account, you can enter other email accounts such as Yahoo and Outlook and use them all at the same time.
To switch from one account to another, you simply have to swipe left or right and choose the one you want to use. Simple as that. If you don’t want to wait for the official release of Android 5.0 Lollipop, then you can download Gmail v5.0 APK file and install it right now.
