How To Root 7.0 Nougat Firmware on Samsung Galaxy S6/S6 Edge with Magisk [SM-G920F and SM-G925F]

If you have updated your Samsung Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 Edge to the official Android 7.0 Nougat update, you might be pleased to hear that you can already root it and grant root access to all your favorite applications.

With the release of the Nougat firmware for the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, fans were quick to download and flash the update, without thinking whether they could root or install TWRP afterwards. Luckily, the good news is that you can install TWRP and root your Galaxy S6 if you have updated to Android 7.0.

Magisk is a universal system less interface which roots your phone and installs additional patches for possible errors you might face such as DRK error. Magisk is the same as SuperSU, it is widely used and is frequently updated for the most up-to-date support.

In order to root your phone, you need to have a custom recovery installed on you phone such as TWRP. If you don’t have TWRP on your phone, you can download it from the download link below.

  1. Download the Magisk zip file and move it to your phone.
  2. Turn it off and go to recovery mode. You can do so by pressing the volume up, home and power keys at the same time.
  3. Go to Install, choose “Magisk-v11.1.zip” and swipe to flash the file.
  4. Wait for the file to finish installing and then reboot your phone.
  5. Go to Play Store and download Magisk Manager.

Now you have just enabled root on your Galaxy S6 running on Nougat. You can test if you managed to successfully enable root or not by downloading one of the root-checking apps on the Play Store.

Now you can grant root access to every app that requires special permissions. Alongside root, you can find useful packages in Magisk Manager which you might want to install. Open Magisk Manager, go to Downloads and find a package that you like, such as Dolby Atmos, SoundMod, Viper4Android and more.
